Frequently Asked Questions

  • Dachtler Therapy is currently accepting self-pay clients as we complete the insurance credentialing process. If you have questions about whether your insurance is accepted, please don't hesitate to reach out — we're happy to help you navigate your options. Reduced-rate arrangements may be available upon request.

  • Your first session is about one thing: getting to know each other. There's no pressure to have all the answers or know exactly what to say. You just have to show up.

Before we meet, you'll complete some initial paperwork through our secure client portal. This covers basic information, practice policies, and a few questions that help me understand what brings you to therapy. Completing this ahead of time gives us more space to focus on you when we sit down together.

In our first session, we'll talk about what's going on in your life, what you're hoping to work on, and what support has looked like for you in the past. I'll ask questions, but mostly I'll listen. This is your time to share as much or as little as feels comfortable. We'll also make sure everything is in order on the administrative side, review any remaining paperwork, and talk through how our sessions will work moving forward.

By the end, we'll have a sense of whether we're a good fit for each other and begin shaping a path forward that feels right for you. There's no rush. We start where you are.

  • We ask that you do your best to attend each scheduled appointment. The time we set aside is held specifically for you, and showing up consistently is one of the most important parts of the therapeutic process.

If something comes up and you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance. A strong therapeutic relationship is built on good communication, and that includes honoring the time we've reserved together.

Late cancellations and no-shows affect our ability to serve other clients who may need care, a $100 fee will be charged for any no-show or same-day cancellation. This fee is your personal responsibility and is not billable to insurance. If you are running behind schedule, please reach out to let us know. Unfortunately, if you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we won't be able to extend the session, and the appointment will be treated as a late cancellation.

If there is a pattern of missed appointments, your therapist will check in with you directly to discuss how to move forward. In some cases, future appointments may need to be rescheduled, and continued no-shows may result in discharge from the practice.
We recognize that emergencies happen. If that's the case, just let us know, and we'll work it out together.

If you haven't been seen or scheduled in 90 days, we'll reach out to check in. If we don't hear back within 30 days, we'll close your file. You are always welcome to return to therapy at any time; you would just need to complete updated intake paperwork.

Your therapist may occasionally be unavailable due to vacation, training, or illness. We will always do our best to give you advance notice and help you reschedule.

  • Dachtler Therapy offers both in-person and telehealth options.

Telehealth makes therapy accessible from wherever you feel most comfortable, whether that's your living room, your car on a lunch break, or anywhere you have privacy and a reliable internet connection.

Here's how it works. Once your appointment is scheduled through SimplePractice, you'll receive a secure video link via email or through your client portal. At your session time, log in to your SimplePractice client portal on your laptop and click the video link. If you're using your cell phone or tablet, you will need to download the SimplePractice Client app, which is readily available in all app stores. SimplePractice's telehealth platform is HIPAA-compliant, meaning your session is private and protected. Everything about our work together stays the same. The conversation, the approach, and the relationship we build do not change because there's a screen between us. The only difference is you get to skip the commute.

A few things that help make telehealth sessions run smoothly: find a quiet, private space where you won't be interrupted, make sure your device is charged, and test your internet connection beforehand. If technology has an off day, no need to worry, we'll figure it out together.

  • We do not use a sliding scale. Reduced-rate arrangements may be available upon request.

If you’re having a hard time, you don't have to face it alone.
